Brief About Me

I am married (25 years next October), father of four, and a grandfather of two. I have an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Surgical Technology.

At the time of this posting, I have been training in the martial arts for 44 years, and have been teaching as a Black Belt for 35 years.

I hold the following ranks: 5th Dan Master Instructor in both "old style" Chung Do Kwan "Tang Soo Do" TKD, and Okinawan Ryu Kyu Kempo; 4th Dan Master Instructor in Moo Duk Kwan TKD; 1st Dan Hapkido and 4th year Apprentince (4th Dan) Instructor in Kali-Escrima & Jun Fan Gung-Fu.

I am the founder of O'Neal's American Karate System - the principle of Shuhari-do, and USA Family Karate Center.

My school is currently based at the Lafayette Family YMCA in Lafayette, Indiana.

Getting in a YMCA (or Rec Center)

Note: I currently teach at a YMCA, and have been asked by a fellow site member how I got my program in. So I would like to share the following with everyone.

The first thing to do is either visit their website or call to see if they offer a Martial Art or Karate program - if they do not, find out who you need to speak with...in my case, when I taught out of a Rec Center, it was the Fitness Director; at the YMCA, it was the Youth Sports Program Director.
